Grief Quotes November 7, 2023
"Every heart has its secret sorrows which the world knows not, and oftentimes we call a man cold, when he is only sad." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I wish that every person who is grieving right now would see this grief quote because it may bring a sigh of relief and comfort knowing that other people will hold incorrect assumptions about a grieving person; what they may be thinking, how they say something, or even their intention.
If a heart is full of sorrow, it’s impossible to be a source of light to others. It’s also unfair to have such an expectation placed upon a grieving person. But it is possible to receive light from others. And it’s fair to have expectations of receiving care and compassion.
The key is to keep your sorrows less of a secret and more of a disclaimer to the people you encounter. Let others know your heart hurts and you’ll receive compassion and care.
